Eid al-Fitr is not a national holiday in mainland China, but it is a local one in the autonomous regions where Hui, Uyghur and other Muslim populations are concentrated: the general office of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region government publishes the days off for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in its annual holiday notice, with Eid al-Fitr in 2026 falling on 21 March, a Saturday already covered by the weekend. So the standing of the same festival inside China depends on which province or region you are in — the only case among these seven places of one country treating one day two ways.

Taiwan does not make Eid al-Fitr a statutory holiday; in Indonesia, the first day of Ramadan is announced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the preceding night's sidang isbat, while the Eid break is scheduled separately around 1 Shawwal.
