Taiwan's Teachers' Day is 28 September, the birthday of Confucius. Article 6 of the Act on Commemorative Days and Holidays lists Children's Day, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Labour Day, the Dragon Boat Festival, Teachers' Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival as each being a one-day holiday — among these six places, only Taiwan's Teachers' Day is a public holiday for everyone. On the same morning the Confucius temples in Tainan and Taipei hold the sacrificial rite, an old-form ceremony running alongside the thank-your-teacher events inside schools.
