Japan has no Teachers' Day. The closest thing at national level is Education and Culture Week — 1 to 7 November each year, concentrating education and culture events under a 1959 cabinet understanding; what it commemorates is education, not teachers. The name Education Day belongs instead to the prefectures: Tokushima, Niigata, Saitama, Shiga, Tokyo, Shimane, Hokkaido and others have each fixed 1 November as their own by ordinance. So the unit here is the prefecture rather than the country, and the subject is education rather than the teacher — elsewhere on this page the comparison is of dates; in Japan's cell the comparison is of who is being honoured.

In 2027, the dates on this page are India on 5 September, mainland China on 10 September, Taiwan on 28 September, Brazil on 15 October, Indonesia on 25 November, Singapore on 3 September (estimated from the school calendar), and the United States' Teacher Appreciation Week on 3–7 May, with local district dates varying.
Only Taiwan makes Teachers' Day a national day off; the other dates are commemorative or school-community observances.
