Indonesia's National Teachers' Day is 25 November, established by Presidential Decree No. 78 of 1994. The date comes from 25 November 1945, when teachers' organisations across the newly independent country merged to found the Indonesian Teachers' Association. The decree also states plainly that the day is not a public holiday. Schools usually mark it with a flag ceremony, awards, and appreciation events organised by the students themselves.
