India has no Duanwu, but it has a boat regatta of its own: Vallam Kali in Kerala, of which the best known is the Nehru Trophy Boat Race on Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha, fixed on the second Saturday of August. The boats are chundan vallams — snake boats over a hundred feet long pulled by more than a hundred oarsmen; Nehru visited in 1952 and donated a silver trophy, which is where the name comes from.
